Choosing the right card for your needs

As you have seen , the best fuel card depends on your personal circumstances. Some of the main points you should look at –

EligibilityWhile some banks do not clearly disclose all of their approval criteria, we have given you a rough guide on how the process works. Your income, credit scores, past relationship with the bank, are some of the critical factors which play a role
Your monthly fuel spendFuel cards give higher promotion benefits on fuel for a certain monthly spend amount on fuel. For example SBI BPCL Card gives 3.25% benefit on Bharat Petroleum fuel purchases on a maximum monthly fuel spend of  ₹10,000. The card also gives you 1% fuel surcharge waiver on fuel spends upto ₹10,000 per month.
Are you comfortable having more than 1 card ?Fuel cards normally do not offer very high benefits on non-fuel spending. Hence they are best when you get them IN ADDITION to one or two other cards,  which give you high rewards on your non-fuel purchase such as shopping, travel, etc.
Annual feeThe SBI card has a welcome offer of ₹500, which compensates for the 1st year joining fee. If your yearly card spending is above ₹50,000, then your upcoming annual fee is also waived off.

Thus your SBI card is virtually free if your annual spending is above ₹50,000 each year.

Once you look at the above factors in detail, you should be able to decide if this is the right card for you. We have taken a deeper look at all of these factors on this page to help you decide.

Conclusion

As you can see, your personal circumstances would dictate the best card for you. BPCL SBI Card is a great fuel card option for those who spend about ₹10000 per month on fuel. Though the special fuel benefit rate of 4.25% is slightly lower than competitor cards, it makes up by offering this high fuel reward rate on higher monthly fuel spends of upto ₹10,000 per month, this limit is higher than many competitors fuel cards.
